MY YEAR AT 49 – THE SWEETER SIDE 01 – 08.21.17

Heading toward the big 5-oh!! Ok. This is it… Last Stop. Yesterday I turned 49 and I thought, what a great opportunity to do something a little different this year. Let’s turn these LEMONS into LEMONADE. So, I’m starting a new weekly series about my LAST year in my FORTIES. Each week I’m going to try something new, reflect & share thoughts, talk about aging and throw in some new adventures too.

The late 40’s and rolling into my 50’s have their own unique challenges. Hot flashes, vision loss, losing things, gaining weight, dry eyes, wrinkles… oh yeah. The gang’s all here.

But, there is some awesome stuff about getting older too.

I am feeling more myself than I ever have.

More grown up.

More capable.

Giving more without sacrificing myself.

Caring less about more things. Caring more about other things.

I’m more grateful.

I’m more protective of my time.

More positive.

Fully breathing more of life in.

I’ve got another list… things that I want more of in my fifties.  I have a desire to invest in myself more. I want more balance. More trust in my Lord.  I think I will travel more. Not settle anymore. More engaged than ever before.

What might happen if this year I challenged myself to be…Bolder? Stronger? Confident? Willing to try something different?

This year I want to pay more attention. Really soak things in. Be grateful everyday. For the small things. For the big things. Pray more. Not take one moment for granted. Live fully, embrace and be unapologetic for the person I am.

Helen Keller said. “Life at any age is either a daring adventure, or it is nothing.”

I think I’m ready.

Until Next Time!
