Oh, mornings… when I was younger and would rise and shine, my face would just spring into life! No creases, sheet lines or bags to contend with. Thirty years later, it’s a completely different kind of morning. When I wake up, it could take at least an hour before some of those sleep wrinkles start to even out. My lips and eyes are dry and I don’t even want to talk about how all those fine lines are so much deeper in the morning. And, although I don’t have major bags under the eyes, there is definitely a fair share of puffiness going on.
So, over the course of the last year or so I discovered this little routine for first thing in the morning. This isn’t a skin regimen or my daily moisturizer etc… this is just to “WAKE UP” my not so young skin and get my day started!
Before I do ANYTHING when I first wake up, I use a couple of drops of Systane lubricant eye drops just to help with the dryness and blurriness first thing in the morning. Before, I would sit in my bed and try to “blink it out” – y’all know what I mean LOL. Then I apply a pea to dime size drop of Miracle Wake Up Cream to my entire face and neck. Next, I take the rollerball and apply on my eyes. Under, on the lids, everywhere. It’s kind of the same feel as putting cold cucumber slices over the eyes. It just feels good. I then rub a little EOS lip balm across my lips just to start some hydration. Yes, I do this before I have coffee, brush teeth or anything. It will come off with that first cup of coffee but in the meantime, my lips are being moisturized. All of that is QUICK! It probably only takes between 60 and 90 seconds.
Here’s the list of products:
-
Systane lubricant for the eyes. This is terrific product for dryness and to create artificial tears. It does not clear up the eyes like Visine and it’s not harsh or have any chemicals. It can be found at any drug store. I buy either regular Systane or Systane Ultra.
-
Garnier SkinActive Clearly Anti-Puffiness Rollerball. It has a silver metal rollerball that feels cold to the touch so the perfect product to help reduce puffiness in the morning. This product can be found at Ulta and some drug stores but they are always out so, I normally just get mine through Amazon.
-
EOS Lip Balm. I use this like a chap stick. It’s more conditioning and has ingredients that help promote hydration. Available at any drug store. I’ve also heard that Maybelline’s New York Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm is something I need to try.
-
Garnier SkinActive Ultra Lift Miracle Wake Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer. I first heard about Garnier’s Wake Up Cream from Nadine Blogett, a Youtube and beauty expert. My ears perked up when I heard her talking about a product for your “morning face”. It had never occurred to me to even look for something that could do that. I have worn it Every.Single.Day since then and I just love it!
Let me know any ideas you may have to help “wake up” in the morning!
