This favorites isn’t my typical monthly favorites post. I did have some favorites but quite frankly, Hurricane Harvey and now Irma really impacted how I was spending my time and also just the desire to write.
Everyone has seen it all over the news. Texans are resilient. They are proud. They are benevolent. And… they like each other. I’ve never been happier to be a Houstonian. And a Texan. So, in the month of August, I only have one favorite… the people on the ground, the people in the boats, the people who lost it all, the people who lost a little. The first responders, the people still showing up to volunteer weeks later. Our politicians. The people picking up the trash. The people carrying it to the curb. Everyone deserves a pat on the back. However they gave, it is appreciated from the bottom of our soul.
