GIRLS’ WEEKENDER TO NEW ORLEANS -PART 2 NIGHT EDITION

It’s Part 2 of my “Girls’ Weekender To New Orleans – Nightlife Edition” and here are few of the classic night time outings suitable for any crowd in New Orleans. Carousel Piano Bar & Lounge.  Located in Hotel Monteleone, this is the perfect spot for a girl’s night out. Start your evening spinning around this world famous bar and taking a few selfies to get the evening rolling.

Preservation Hall. If you love jazz, try and put this on your list. You need to purchase tickets in advance and there are no bathrooms, air-conditioning and bring a bottled water. No drinks are served on site. It’s historic New Orleans and you won’t be disappointed, but I would never go in the warmer months. I would suggest going to Frenchmen Street and seeing live music there. Low key and relaxing. It’s a step off the beaten path of Bourbon.

Pat O’Briens. You girls looking for another Instagrammable moment? Pat O’Briens has been around since the 1930’s and has secured its place as one of the historic bars in the Quarter. It’s vibrant without being wild. Order yourself up a Hurricane and hang out on the courtyard for a bit of fun!

House of Blues. There are House of Blues everywhere it seems but if you are looking for a place to enjoy some live music, you might want to check out their calendar. Famous acts pop in and out of there and sometimes you can find a deal on tickets.

Bourbon Street.  This street has been a favorite since the 1700’s. It spans about 13 blocks and you can spend your entire weekend here or an hour. But, if you fancy a walk, here are a few of my favorite spots… If you are into Karaoke, don’t miss Cat’s Meow. It’s especially a good time for a group.  In the mood for one of the oldest bars in New Orleans, try out Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar. It’s known for it’s phenomenal piano bar and it’s “purple drank”. Interested in riding a mechanical bull? Don’t miss the Bourbon Cowboy. It’s a popular setting for bachelorette’s. Ending your evening? Stop by for some 50’s nostalgia at Clover Grill for a middle of the night burger or early morning breakfast. For me, the best spot on Bourbon is probably on a balcony where I can enjoy a drink and people watch. Musical Legends Park. Looking for a place on Bourbon but a little more low-key?  This is one of my very favorite places to hang out in New Orleans. I love being outdoors with a courtyard. Throughout the park, there are life-sized bronze statues of some of the great music legends and a courtyard that is perfect for grabbing a drink and listening to some music. Cafe Beignet is located on the far side of the park. Admission is free but they stop playing music around 12 – 1am on the weekends. This is also a great venue during the day.
